Since its origin in 1870, the history of Aveleda has been involved with the Vinho Verde region. Manoel Pedro Guedes, the founder, transformed the path of the Quinta da Aveleda, his family’s property for 11 generations with the dream, "the future of this house will be wine". In each generation the Guedes family is committed to leave something better for the next generation. Today, the company is present in five regions: Vinhos Verdes, Douro, Bairrada, Lisbon and Algarve.
With the first bottle of Aveleda wine, the company assumed itself as producer of wines with character, quality, and history, that engage with consumers all over the world. At the same time it shows great respect for nature and biodiversity, – mirrored in the gardens of the estate – Aveleda aims to keep producing distinctive wines in all of these regions. Born at Quinta da Aveleda, today Aveleda’s wines are produced from grapes from different sub-regions of the Vinhos Verdes region. This allows us to explore the diversity of soils and terroirs, that complement this unique wine portfolio. Singular wines, made with time
Located on the northern part of the Bairrada region, the mosaic of micro-terroirs transforms this estate in a unique place to create wines of great quality. When António and Luís Guedes discovered, in 1997, the old wines that were ageing in the house’s cellar for decades, the fell in love and decided to buy the property. This was the place where António Azevedo Guedes, member of the fifth generation of the family, started his work at Aveleda. He was dedicated, for years, to the study of these soils and the best adapted grape varieties for Quinta d’Aguieira. Later, in 2020, an historic mark is set on the history of this estate, when a new range of wines being released to the market, all of them unique and perfected by time.
